Announcements

In this edition of our newsletter, we have our most recent article published in Medical Device Online magazine on the very popular yet misunderstood topic of 5S.  We also have some exciting announcements regarding upcoming training.

There are only a few days left to register for our Lean Manufacturing Certification (Blended Learning) program, which will take place next week on April 19-21.  You must register by this Friday 4/15 to participate.

We have also announced a new program, Advanced Team Facilitation and Change Management, which will take place on June 22-23.  This program can be taken as a stand-alone program, or can be used for our Certified Lean Practitioners to upgrade to Certified Lean Facilitator.  Early registration discounted pricing for this course expires on Monday 5/23.  For our complete schedule of off-site training and for on-site training information, please visit our Lean Training page.

If you are unable to attend our off-site training programs, please consider our online training and certification programs. These include Lean Manufacturing Certification, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and Lean Healthcare Certificate. To view all of our online training offerings, please visit Lean Training Online.

Featured Topic: 5S

5S is often pitched as a good starting point for lean; for some companies, this works out well.  Others have trouble after some initial progress.  While 5S is sometimes thought of as a "stand alone tool,"  I believe that 5S is best thought of as an enabler for principles such as standardized work, continuous flow, and pull systems.  Below, we include our latest article from Med Device Online magazine in which we discuss how 5S helps create productivity by enabling key lean principles.
